Korea

Since I moved to Korea back when I was a wee middle-schooler, God keeps sticking me with Koreans.  I got saved in a Korean-American church (CFC), serving a Korean-American church (KMC), and will probably continue to be involved in the Korean church both in the US and abroad.  I'm studying Korean now, but have quite along way to go.

  • My Experiances So Far

I have been having a great time so far in Korea.   First and foremost I am blown away by the presence of the Lord in  many of the conferences and seminars we are having.  The IHOP message of intimacy and the love of God is very relevant to the church in Korea and the people coming to these meetings are so hungry.  As usual Allen Hood and Daniel Lim have been doing an awesome job preaching, and Pablo Perez's worship has been so anointed.  Every single person in the room is so incredibly engaged in worship, even thought it is mostly in English. Yesterday I had a really bizarre / fun experience at this coffee and ice cream shop in Kangnam. This shop sold really overpriced desserts ($5 each), but then had bread, jam, and brewed coffee for free.  The really interesting thing was they had this thing they called Dr. Fish.  Basically for $2 you got to put your feet in a fish tank, and these little fish would come and eat the dead skin off your feet.  This of course tickles and is just in general a really strange sensation.  Anyway very fun. • Arrived In Korea

I just arrived in Seoul, Korea a few hours ago. It is a bizarre juxtaposition of familiar and unfamiliar. I am staying near and helping out at a church in seungnam just feet from Seoul International School where I attended middle-school way back in 1992. Many of the older landmarks are intact, but the whole area is far more developed and modern. Korea still has pretty much the same feel, giant apartment complexes and tons of tiny little convenience stores and restaurants in every side street. I am really excited about what the lord will do in these conferences. I believe the Lord wants to restore the Korean church to a culture of prayer and fasting, as well as taking them to new heights of intimacy. The web sites for the conferences are forerunnerkorea.org and ihop24.org.
